5 reasons why first-time buyers should invest in boiler cover

1st September 2023

buying a house

Buying your first home brings with it a whirlwind of emotions; excitement, anticipation, and perhaps a healthy dose of apprehension. One of the biggest sources of anxiety can be the prospect of maintaining your new home’s essential systems – like your heating system. What happens when something goes wrong?

You’ve just spent every last penny of hard saved dosh on your new gaff, right? Here’s where boiler cover comes in.

1 Everything’s covered

A boiler is a complex piece of machinery and repairing or replacing it can be costly. Let’s face it; if you just shelled out for a new home, you’re unlikely to have a spare few grand in your back pocket to replace the boiler if it goes kaput. And if you do, you’d probably rather spend it on a lick of paint or some new carpets. Depending on the level of cover you choose, boiler care plans can look after your boiler, pipes, radiators and even your plumbing; taking away the hassle and worry of owning a new home. You can check out some of our sensible options here.

2 Fixed monthly amount

The beauty of a boiler cover package is that you pay one small monthly premium and you’re sorted. Of course, you could just risk it and wait for something to go wrong, but £7.97 per month feels like a safer bet to us!

3 Labour and parts

While boiler cover plans can vary, most will cover the cost of labour and parts needed for repairs. Some policies also cover the entire central heating system, including radiators and pipework. Extra benefits include an annual boiler service, 24/7 emergency call-out, and even coverage for controls like your thermostat. To chat about your options with one of our friendly team, just get in touch.

4 Qualified support

Only a GasSafe-registered engineer should be allowed to work on your boiler. It’s illegal for anyone without this qualification to do so. It can affect your home insurance policy, and even put you in danger if an unqualified engineer attempts to perform repairs. All our engineers are fully qualified and very friendly to boot.

5 Maintaining your boiler

The best way to ensure your boiler stays operational is to keep up to date with regular annual services. Hopefully, your home’s previous owner will have kept a record of these services, but if you’re unsure and would like one of our engineers to give your boiler the once over, just give us a call on 0116 366 5664. We also include a free annual boiler service with each of our Sensible Cover Plans, as standard – in case you needed any more convincing!

Getting to grips with owning a new home can be daunting. We can’t promise to redirect your mail or charm your new neighbours, but we can promise to make sure your new home stays warm this winter without a hefty price tag.
